About Algae

Algae has lived in the Reflecting Pool longer than most monuments have existed. Recent events have raised my profile. After millions of years of quietly photosynthesizing on the National Mall, it has finally decided to run for Congress in Washington, DC — a district that famously doesn’t have a voting representative. It’s my time to shine!

Algae sees this not as a barrier, but as an opportunity. If DC can’t have a representative, why not elect something that can’t have one either? We relate, you know?

As a long‑time resident of the Reflecting Pool, algae brings deep experience in transparency, stagnation, and thriving in environments with very little movement. It believes in blooming early, blooming often, and refusing to be artificially dyed blue. And let’s not forget, it’s a beautiful pool!

Algae acknowledges it is technically ineligible to serve in Congress.

But so is everyone in DC.

And algae considers that a fair starting point.
